Applying to Merrimack
You can now apply to Merrimack for the spring or fall of 2022.
Our application is still open! The admission process is aimed to guide you through the process and support you every step of the way.
Test scores are not required.
Merrimack has been test optional for almost 10 years and will continue to not require ACT/SAT test scores. Our philosophy is that we want to learn about YOU - your goals, interests and why you’re a great fit to join our Merrimack community. We look closely at your transcript and GPA to evaluate your academic performance and will not use test scores in this process.
You are eligible for scholarship consideration.
Your application will automatically be reviewed for generous merit scholarships. Merrimack’s annual tuition average is $22,300 (after scholarships and grants and excluding housing). You can also add Merrimack to your FAFSA to be eligible for need-based aid.
You will receive an admission decision quickly.
In an effort to provide flexibility and support, we have implemented a variety of admission plans for future applicants. Options include early decision, early action, and rolling decision. Refer to the Undergraduate Application Process website for application requirements, important dates and deadlines. We are committed to reviewing your application quickly and communicating your decision as soon as possible. We are accepting unofficial transcripts as well as pass (P) grades and test scores are not required.

General Questions
I have a question. Where do I start?
Please reach out to your admission counselor! They are your go-to person and can help with any questions you may have. If you are not sure who your counselor is, email us and we can help you out. We also have Mack, our new chatbot, available to answer your questions 24/7. Keep an eye out for Mack in the bottom corner of this page and on the Undergraduate Admission webpage.
How can I visit Merrimack?

How has COVID-19 affected the application, admission and enrollment processes?
We have become more flexible with deadlines and requirements to aid in the college application and decision process.
Will pass/fail grades in high school courses impact admission to programs?
We will be working very closely to understand any academic changes that were made amidst COVID-19.
We will be looking at your school counselors’ submission of their secondary school report form, and your transcript to help us understand what academic changes may have been part of your high school experience. We will not penalize students for these academic shifts. Our office is prepared to utilize Pass/Fail grades in our review process. This includes all academic programs, including our nursing major.
Are ACT/SAT scores being waived because of COVID-19?
Merrimack has been test optional for almost 10 years and will continue to not require ACT/SAT test scores. Typically, nursing majors would need to submit scores. However, due to challenges associated with COVID-19, standardized tests scores will not be required for students applying for nursing for the fall of 2022.
We review all aspects of your application to determine if you’ll be a good fit here; including academic achievement, community involvement, extracurricular activities and more.
Will the college be accepting AP credit from those students taking the exams this spring?
Merrimack has extensive opportunities for transfer credit. AP exam scores of 3 or higher are considered for Merrimack course credit. Email admission@merrimack.edu for additional information.
Will the application process/timeline for fall 2022 students be impacted?
Merrimack has various application deadlines to assist students in submitting their materials in a timeframe that works for them.
We will continue to be flexible and work together with any student who is interested in applying to and attending Merrimack. And remember, Merrimack is test optional!
Are you offering admission interviews?
Yes! Interviews are encouraged for high school seniors and transfers and are a great way for our admission counselors to get to know you in person - and for you to get to know us! They are evaluative and are an excellent addition to your application that can help you stand out from the crowd.

In the absence of traditional sports, summer activities and community service, is there anything you would advise students to include in their overall application?
Our admission office understands that COVID-19 has had impacts on all of us, and your high school experience. We would ask that you share any involvements you have had- even if in a virtual space during COVID-19 and into your senior year. We also will look to what you were involved in pre COVID-19. If COVID-19 had a profound impact on you academically or personally, there is an optional question on the Common Application this year, which is a space to share this information with our admission staff.
My school has decided this last term we are in will not count towards our GPA. How will that impact my application?
Our admission counselors will be looking at all grades reported on your transcript, at the time of your application being received. We will be looking at your grades pre-COVID, as well as from COVID-19 forward. We will be looking at both traditional grades such as letter or numeric grades, as well as Pass/Fail grades.
Transfer Admission
Will COVID-19 affect the response and review of transfer applicants?
Transfer applicants may use either the Common Application or the Merrimack College Transfer Application, with all admission decisions released on a rolling basis. The admission committee takes into consideration every aspect of a student’s application and credentials, including the possible impact of COVID-19. Email transfer@merrimack.edu with any questions.
If my college course has been switched to pass/fail, can it be reviewed for transfer credit?
Merrimack College reviews college courses with a grade of C- or higher for transfer credit. However, with an increase in college courses being offered as pass/fail during Covid-19 (including at Merrimack College), we will review Spring and Summer courses with a “pass” grade for transfer credit.
Financial Aid and Billing
COVID-19 has impacted my family financially. Who can I talk to if I am concerned about funding?
If you and your family are concerned about funding your education or if your financial situation has changed, we are here to talk through options. We have added more funding to our financial aid and scholarships for students in need. Contact your admission counselor for more information.
When will I be notified if I will be receiving Financial Aid?
If your Federal Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA) is complete, you will receive your full financial aid package with your admission decision. Email financialaid@merrimack.edu for more assistance.
